How to register with FIRST (mentor)

All mentors must be registered in the FIRST system before they can attend Team Phoenix meetings.

1. Create or log in to your FIRST account
   • Go to firstinspires.org.
   • Click Sign Up if you are new, or Log In if you already have an account.
   • Use the same account each season.
2. Complete your profile
   • Fill out your contact information.
   • Add your date of birth (needed for background screening).
   • Select your role as Mentor.
3. Apply to join a team
   • Under the Volunteer Registration tab, click Find a Team.
   • Enter the team number (Team Phoenix’s number) or search by location.
   • Select Mentor as your role and submit.
4. Youth Protection Program (YPP) screening
   • All mentors must complete a background check.
   • The system will direct you to the screening form (done through a secure third party).
   • This step must be repeated every 3 years.
5. Complete required trainings (if prompted)
   • Some mentors may need to complete YPP training modules before approval.
6. Team approval
   • Once you have applied, a Lead Mentor from Team Phoenix receives a notification.
   • They must accept your application before you are officially registered.
